Vatel Switzerland, International Business School Hotel & Tourism Management Created more than 30 years ago, Vatel is currently the first and largest group of hotel management schools in the world with more than 30 campuses on 4 different continents. Currently more than 8000 students are studying and training their future operational and executive skills to become one of the 25000 graduates who all belong to the same prestigious network. Recognised by top representatives o… [+] f the hotel industry, the school has an international recognition thanks to the teaching concept of the right balance between academic theory and professional practice. Vatel, International Business School Hotel & Tourism Management is well known around the world for preparing students for middle and higher management positions in the booming sector of the tourism industry and has decided to remain faithful and close to the needs of the sector by regularly questionning professionals about what they need in terms of staff and knowledge. Vatel has developed a strong network through which the International Training department assists each student for internships and employment in reputed hotel chains all over the world. The Vatel International Business School Hotel & Tourism Management ranks 1st amongst the Top Hotel Schools across Europe (source IFOP 2007). Both the under graduate and post graduate programmes in the group are recognized by the French Education ministry and by the Hospitality Industry professionals. Vatel Switzerland The school is located in a breathaking environment close to winter resorts and in a very touristic region of Switzerland. Students of all cultures and nationalities are united on the same campus attending demanding university education level courses and practical instruction in its 4 star hotel, its restaurant and congress center are located at the bottom of the mountains. Even though the degrees are recognized by the French government and State, and therefore at an international level as part of the Bologna agreements, the school is also currently running for the Swiss federal recognition valid from 2015 for all students finishing after that year and is a proud member of the ASEH (Swiss Association of Hotel Schools). So far, Vatel Switzerland is the only hotel school in Switzerland to offer a 4* hotel to its students directly on campus all year for external guests. This allows Vatel students to train every 2 weeks what they have learnt in classrooms throughout the 3 years of the Bachelor programme and be more attractive on the market or during internships. Master students then have mainly demanding academic classes and challenging projects to work on, before joining a management trainee programme that leads to employment. Students may live on campus within the hotel infrastructure or live in the area, off site. The school is regularly approached by external stakeholders to allow students to work next to their studies and therefore keep a narrow relation with the real world. It is also proud to participate in cutting-edge projects with leading institutes such as IDIAP, EPFL or Cornell to help understand the use of technology in service oriented fields or situations. The advantages of studying at VATEL Switzerland are the following: The demanding programmes are a subtle blend of academically challenging projects given by highly trained professors and practice oriented exercises – professors are largely from the industry or still run their own company\ First technological campus with a low impact on environment thanks to tuition on tablets only Regular conferences with external distinguished guest speakers and workshops to adapt to other culturally different environments Students on internship in Switzerland can expect a minimum monthly wage of CHF 2168.- (USD 2200 per month) Our second trainee management internship allows students to secure interesting job opportunities directly after graduation Our 25 000 alumni network with Clubs in various large cities of the world includes people from all over the globe working in renowned hotels and willing to help the next generation get started Small classes and personalized service give students the opportunity to study in ideal conditions, in a safe and discrete environment Student Life is highly supported thanks to our Student Life Coordination and the Student Fund that helps to financially support projects or events that students wish to create. Unemployment rate of 3.0% guarantees our students an easy approach to internships and job opportunities. Placement is an important of your education and we pay close attention to it by allowing you a full support in searching for your first job and organizing job fairs for HR Directors and departments
Lorange – Not Only a Name, But a Spirit. Dr. Peter Lorange, the owner of the Lorange Institute of Business Zurich, says: „I have spent my entire working life in leading business schools, and have held leading positions in teaching, research and administration. This includes more than a decade at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and 7 years at the Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.“ „I was also a visiting professor at Stockholm School of Econo… [+] mics. For four years I was President of the Norwegian School of Management (BI) in Oslo, and for 15 years President of IMD in Lausanne. Then I purchased what is now the Lorange Institute of Business Zurich. So, I am bringing a lot of know-how to the table, and I am putting this to use here. My ambition is to make good even better! I have the experience and credibility to make this happen.“ Our Innovations. We have introduced several organizational innovations to achieve this goal: For example, you will find me together with our Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Philipp Boksberger at a long trading room style table in the lobby – to make us more accessible, and to become more speedy. All of us here at the Lorange Institute realize that we live in a networked world. We keep administrative red tape to a minimum. Our Campus. All our modules are conducted at the modern Lorange Institute Campus right on the shore of Lake Zurich, an ideal learning environment. Only fifteen minutes from the buzzing city and thirty minutes from Zurich’s international airport, our Institute offers first-class learning resources, its own restaurant and a modern hotel within walking distance (10 minutes). And there is an ample space for learning under the roof. Cutting-edge substance is key! Learning is a function of “light, space and beauty”, too, to be effective! And, outstanding pedagogy is also critical. To learn is inspirational and a privilege. A key aim for the Lorange Institute is to stimulate this positive view of learning.

The HGK FHNW (Academy of Art and Design FHNW) is a site of conceptualization, production and critical reflection. The Academy of Art and Design FHNW with its ten Institutes, 750 students and 200 faculty sees itself as vibrant breeding ground for ideas, as a cultural-political catalyser and as a seismograph detecting socially relevant fields in art, design and science that are then refined, processed and communicated in an exemplary fashion through theory and practice.… [+] On the basis of differentiated perception and reflection, personal vision and understanding, the Academy sees its role as facing today’s challenges through a variety of creative spaces and professional perspectives. The HGK FHNW is a site of diversity of attitudes and openness Through integrative infrastructure and a trinational framework, the reinvented Campus of the Arts facilitates interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning, research and production. Students can currently choose from seven BA and four MA programmes. Project-based work forms the core of the programmes, combining, as is done in research, artistically experimental, creative, technological and scientific approaches. Aiming at sustainably creating receptive space for works, high-quality artefacts and productive processes, the Academy actively supports and promotes the potentiality of experimentation and networking in contrast to conventional knowledge production. The HGK FHNW is a place for dialogue – between students and teachers, disciplines and cultures, academia and the public. Where teaching is lived and communicated as a synergetic process moving between society, art, politics and the economy. Central to the Academy’s social mission is the education of future generations of independently-minded and confidently competent artists and designers. The Visual Communication Institute / The Basel School of Design The Visual Communication Institute / The Basel School of Design is today a Department of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), Academy of Art and Design (HGK). We offer curricula at the Bachelor and Master level in the field of Visual Communication with international accreditation (BA, MA, MDes). The faculty members are active participants in the design community and are involved in applied research projects. The central focus of all activities is the creation of images for communication. The Visual Communication Institute developed out of the influential tradition of the Basel School of Design beginning in the 1960s. We have expanded this background to address the challenges of the 21st Century. We are part of an international network of Art and Design Schools that provides many opportunities for students and faculty. The Basel School of Design The Basel School of Design and its students have influenced the international Graphic Design community since the 1960’s. Under the direction of Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder courses for Graphic Design and Typography were developed. They were outstanding models for a modernist design education. Since the year 2000, the Swiss educational system has undergone an astonishingly rapid process of adapting its educational institutions to the international standards of the Bachelor and Master curricula at the University level. In this process the Visual Communication department became a separate institute from the vocational level School of Design (Schule für Gestaltung Basel). We are now part of the University system of Northwest Switzerland and have developed a curriculum for the University level with international accreditation. This University level institute is officially called the «Visual Communication Institute/The Basel School of Design» and forms together with seven other Design- and Art oriented Institutes the Academy of Art and Design Basel (HGK Basel) as a Department of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). Today the Visual Communication Institute/The Basel School of Design offers a Bachelor's Degree programm, an international Master’s Degree program, international Summer Workshops, and is involved in many national and international research and development projects. We are proud of what our institute has achieved during the past few years. The institute has a curriculum for today and tomorrow’s design world continuing the rich tradition of Swiss Design and Typography. With more than half of its current 3000 students and professors coming from abroad and most Master's programmes taught in English, USI has grown into a multilingual academic institution with great international breadth. USI's small size, its high teacher-to-students ratio, the integration of different disciplines, and top-quality technical and IT infrastructure make up the ideal conditions for study and research in a cosmopolitan and multicultural environment. The Università della Svizzera italiana was founded in 1996 and is sprucing up for a new challenge, a crucial phase for its future. Young USI is receptive to all sorts of opportunities to explore and pioneer. It is willing to take on enriching new initiatives; free to put forward strategies to meet the challenges confronting modern people: the environment, the economy, society, and the new technologies. USI stands out in the Swiss academic landscape for its original teaching programs, both at Bachelor's and Master's level. These are informed by regional and historical-cultural motives, but equally by an inspired readiness to act on the reforms currently implemented in higher education. Look at the Academy of Architecture and the Faculty of Economics: their creation was fully justified, the former by a glowing centuries-old tradition, and the latter by the strength of Lugano's financial centre, with its resonance nationwide and worldwide. Then look at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, unique of its kind in Switzerland, and the Faculty of Informatics, well on its way to becoming the third centre of excellence in Switzerland after the two Federal Institutes of Technology. Combined with its privileged geographic position - USI acting as a bridge between the South (Lombardy) and the North (the rest of Switzerland across the Alps) - these choices give our university an identity of its own. USI is characterized by steadily rising student numbers, growing success in research and the international mix of its actors (the highest proportion in Switzerland), whether students, research and doctoral assistants, or professors.

BUILDING CONFIDENT COMMUNICATORS SINCE 1878 When Maximilian D. Berlitz introduced t… [+] he revolutionary Berlitz Method® in the USA, he changed the way language was taught forever. Based on providing an immersive experience with native teachers and focusing on oral communication, the Berlitz Method® is capable of accelerating learning and building the key foundation for effective communication – learners’ self-confidence. A NEVER-ENDING DRIVE FOR INNOVATION We continue to revolutionize global communication training by developing programs that help companies and individuals overcome cultural differences, manage diversity and leverage similarities for maximum performance. A Berlitz learner understands that communication goes way beyond languages and is qualified to speak with confidence. OUR EXCLUSIVE BERLITZ METHOD® LEARN QUICKLY, WITH NATURAL EASE The Berlitz Method® is a natural way to learn a new language. When it was introduced in 1878, this intuitive, conversational style of teaching revolutionized language instruction. Today, our proven, effective Berlitz direct method has become the industry standard for language instruction, and remains at the core of our company’s teaching approach. TALK AND THINK IN THE NEW LANGUAGE With the Berlitz Method®, all communication during class takes place in the target language. Instructors are native speakers and use a conversational approach based on listening and speaking. An immersive environment encourages learners to quickly develop their skills in oral communication. Even beginners can formulate simple sentences from the very first lesson. DEVELOP SPONTANEOUS RESPONSES Our method was conceived to allow learners to speak - the rationale being that students will be able to work out grammatical rules from the input language provided, without necessarily being able to explain the rules overtly. Learners take on the new language the same way they did their first - with natural ease. SELF-CONFIDENCE WHEN USING THE NEW LANGUAGE At the core of our method is maximized and active students’ participation. Only by speaking actively, learners will be able to communicate in the new language quickly. Our teachers are trained to create a positive and comfortable learning environment. They ensure that students feel confident, that the level is appropriate and that the atmosphere encourages communication. THE 6 KEY ASPECTS OF THE BERLITZ METHOD® 1. IMMERSION IN THE LANGUAGE Immersing you in your new language and the corresponding culture enables you to quickly acclimate to your new language. 2. TAILOR-MADE COURSE CONTENT Instructors choose your course content based on your personal goals and background, ensuring language skills that are practical in your daily and professional life. 3. HIGH PERCENTAGE OF SPEAKING TIME The vast majority of your time with your Berlitz trainer is spent speaking your target language, increasing the rate at which you absorb the language and reducing inhibitions. 4. TARGETED LEARNING Berlitz trainers find a suitable balance between improving your fluency and developing your accuracy of expression. 5. INTUITIVE GRAMMAR Instead of focusing on grammar worksheets, Berlitz trainers instill an intuitive sense of your target language's grammar through speaking. 6. APPROPRIATE LEARNING Berlitz trainers use the tools that correspond to the way that you learn best, significantly boosting your ability to improve upon your language skills.
