The Thomas Jefferson Residential LLM Program enables foreign students to study American law – with opportunities to specialize in cutting edge areas. The Program Includes: Introduction to American Law for Foreign Students Core American Law courses taken with JD students Practice Skills Classes Bar Preparation Classes Expert Faculty Mentors in Many Specializations Earn a Master's Degree LLM Studying in San Diego, California, America's Finest City American Legal Studies LLM with specialization in Intellectual Property International Trade & Investment Sports & Entertainment Law General American Law Eligibility to take American bar exams in some jurisdictions Practice Skills Oriented Classes Expert Bar Preparation Work Directly with Your Own Faculty Advisor to Plan Your Program of Study ABA Acquiescence in All Graduate Programs Enjoy Beautiful San Diego Application Requirements In order to complete an on line application, students must submit: An official transcript indicating a degree in law, JD or non-U.S. equivalent A resume reflecting educational and work history as well as other information relevant to the consideration of an application to the LLM program A personal statement/statement of interest. The statement should be generally 2-3 pages double spaced Interview – All students will be required to interview with the Admissions Department in person or via Skype. International Students must also submit: English translated and independently evaluated copies of transcripts. The Law School Admission Council (LLM) and World Educations Services (WES) can provide the necessary evaluation services necessary to demonstrate equivalency to the U.S. grading system. Thomas Jefferson School of Law recommends these services. But other independent evaluation services are available. The requirements for each state bar vary, and students must plan their program of study carefully to ensure eligibility to take a particular bar exam. Career Services LLM candidates work closely with their faculty advisors and the LLM Program Director to design a program of study designed to fit their career goals. The Career Services and Student Affairs Offices provide individualized career counseling, including assisting LLM students: with everything from resume drafting to interviewing to networking; finding employment and internship opportunities through a variety of resources; working with foreign lawyers earning LLM degrees to receive Optional Practical Training allowing graduates to work with a law firm or government agency in the United States for up to twelve months after completing their studies. Students graduating from this program now work in a wide variety of legal positions in San Diego as well as throughout the United States and the world. [-]
