About Albania

About Albania

Albania is a Southeastern European country with Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece and Montenegro as its neighbors and a coast along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Albania is known for its beautiful coastlines with pristine beaches along the Ionian Sea, earning the nickname of the Albanian Riviera. The beauty of Albania is causing the region to grow in popularity among tourists, and people are beginning to visit in large numbers, earning it a place as one of the top travel destinations in the world. Education is also highly valued in Albania, and close to 99 percent of the population is literate, making it one of the highest in the world.

The country has a rich history and sits in one of the most diverse areas of the world. It is a safe country to travel to and as such some students have attended colleges and universities here. However, this is not necessary a common thing to do. The country does not have a strong economy right now, but it does have a democracy that is fairly strong and developed. About 2.8 million people live in Albania, with more than 421,000 of them living in Tirana.

The Albanian Law System

Albania practices the civil law system, which is based in Roman law and is built around a written legal code. Those who earn a law degree in Albania are well suited to practice law in much of Europe and South America, which also practice a similar law system.
