Bachelor of Law (LLB)
Our flagship LLB Honours Law degree will help you lay the foundations for a successful career as a solicitor, barrister, or other law-related employment. It is the only undergraduate course that offers a qualifying law degree for exemption from the academic stage of professional legal education, recognized by the Joint Academic Stage Board of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Bar Standards Board (BSB).
A high percentage of our lecturers are qualified as solicitors, barristers, or both, in the UK and other jurisdictions and you will benefit from their experience and expert knowledge.
On the LLB Honours Law degree, you will gain an excellent grounding in legal skills and foundation subjects. You will also be given opportunities to gain specialist knowledge in areas such as Employment Law. In your first year, you will also explore legal research skills and have an opportunity to take part in a moot. Graduates of our Law degrees have gone on to work for companies including American Airlines, Charsley Harrison LLP and Santander.
Students who graduate with at least a lower second class honors will be guaranteed a place at the College of Law to undertake the Legal Practice Course (the next stage towards becoming a solicitor).
Graduates can study the LPC (the next stage towards becoming a solicitor) or the BPTC (the next stage towards becoming a barrister). Many students embarking on a law degree will be considering a career as a solicitor or barrister after they graduate. Graduates also explore careers options in business, charities, management or administration or legally- related fields such as paralegal work. Our graduates have gone on to work for a wide range of organizations including Duncan Lewis, Julian Young & Co, H&M Solicitors and more.
For the LLB we normally make offers on around 300 tariff points and for the BA Honours Law, we normally make offers on around 260 tariff points or less if you only have two A levels plus GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above.
