Juris Doctor programs offer core courses that are mandatory preparation for the legal professional exam. Juris Doctor programs take a scientific approach to law, teaching logic and adversarial analysis.

MBA/Juris Doctor (JD)
Admission to this joint-degree program is ordinarily granted either prior to attenxding the Katz School of Business and the School of Law or during the first year of study in the law school. In exceptional cases and with permission, however, students may apply to the MBA/JD program after completing the second year of law school. Occasionally, a student will begin studies in the Katz School before applying to the MBA/JD program. Such students may apply to the joint-degree program during their first semester of study. One major advantage is that what would normally take five years (two of MBA, three of law) is reduced to 3.5 years. This means substantial savings in time and money. Katz can make this possible because it offers an 11-month MBA program. To be enrolled in this joint-degree program, applicants must submit separate applications and be admitted both to the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and to the Katz School. A separate joint-degree program application must be completed and a copy sent to each school. GMAT and LSAT scores are required for all applicants. A joint admissions committee, made up of faculty from both schools, will either grant or deny admission to the MBA/JD program.Applications to the joint-degree program can be found at either school....
