LLM

The College of Laws offers an LLM with two double majors and also gives students the option to earn an LLM with dual concentrations by combining any two majors.

Why LLM at University of Dubai?

  1. The UD LLM has been designed to prepare graduates for successful careers in both legal and non-legal organizations. The program will enhance critical thinking, increase oral and written communication skills as well as English language skills, improve decision-making in a rapidly-changing global environment, and reinforce the application of knowledge and skills in the area of problem-solving.
  2. The LLM program can be completed in 12 months.
  3. The instructional process will include a combination of classroom and moot court and contextualized real-world case-based learning to provide value-added hands-on experience and help students use their time effectively. The online learning portion of the curriculum will be enhanced using the MOODLE platform.
  4. The LLM has two unique concentrations in order to meet the need for professionals in these areas. Moreover, the program has been designed to permit the admission of students with any undergraduate degree from an accredited university who meet the necessary criteria.
  5. The UD LLM curriculum is of high quality and is integrated with an emphasis on applied learning.
  6. The LLM is delivered by well-qualified, practicing faculty members

Arbitration & Dispute Resolution

At the end of the LLM program, the student is expected to accomplish the following objectives which are common to LLM core courses:

  1. Think critically, analytically and communicate effectively in English as a legally trained professional by preparing, presenting, arguing and pursuing the point of view/case logically.
  2. Work in and lead dynamic international and UAE organizations in solving social and economic legal issues/ situations in specific legal fields.
  3. Apply written and oral communication skills in pursuit of legal professional goals.

Goals/Objectives common to each of the LLM tracks:

  1. Develop local/global perspective and adapt to dynamic international and UAE cultural environments concerning social and economic development of UAE.
  2. Adapt, apply and analyze specialized law knowledge to improve the business environment and assist the UAE in social and economic development.

Financial Crimes & Money Laundering

Upon completion of the LLM program, students are expected to accomplish the following objectives which are common to LLM core courses:

  1. Communicate effectively and think critically and analytically English as legally trained professionals by preparing, presenting, arguing, and pursuing the point of view/case logically.

Accreditations

CAA, Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research – UAE The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) is the Federal Government's Quality Assurance Agency charged with promoting educational excellence across diverse institutions of higher learning in the UAE. Through licensure of post-secondary educational institutions, and accreditation of individual programs, the Commission strives to assure high quality education, consistent with international standards. www.caa.ae

Admission Requirement

An applicant must provide the following documents for admission:

  • Original Bachelor's degree certificate or certified equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
  • Valid passport copy
  • Four recent passport-size photographs (colored with white background) or in JPEG file format
  • TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent certificate in original as stated under Admission Criteria.
  • Pay non-refundable AED 1,800 for the enrollment fee (Admission/ID Card/Technology Fee).

Transfer students must also submit original transcripts from the university/college they are transferring from. In addition, transfer students must submit the course syllabus and course description for each course they seek to transfer for credit. Transfer students into a Master’s Program must have received at least a “B” or equivalent for any course they wish to transfer. Students will be informed of the course(s) eligible for transfer within 48 hours by the Graduate Programs Office.
