This New LLM Programme will commence from October 2017.
Commercial Law underpins the operation of all commercial deals. The finance contract enables mergers and acquisitions and debt financing. Complex contractual arrangements, conflicts of law and taxation all facilitate cross-border transactions.
Our brand new LLM is distinctive because it brings the unique Warwick ‘law in context’ approach to the study of International Commercial Law. You will learn how:
- Law interacts with and supports or constrains large commercial deals
- Wider policy and ethical questions operate within the commercial context
- Term 1 - 3 optional modules
- Term 2 - 3 optional modules
- Term 3 - Dissertation
You will be required to select modules covering traditional commercial law subjects and a selection of modules which provide a contextual perspective. For further details please see the modules tab.
Modules run in terms one and two. You will take at least three from a list of 'Commercial Law' modules, at least one 'Context' module, and the remaining from our other postgraduate modules postgraduate modules offered within the law school.
We are proud of the wide variety of modules we provide and the diverse international nature of our staff and student body.
The course incorporates a wide and varying range of assessment methods, which may include essays, examinations, portfolios, presentations and a dissertation.
If you are a diploma student, you will only need to take the taught elements of the course and do not need to write a dissertation.
You will be given feedback on your assessments each term.
If you want to study with us part-time, the programme is studied over a two year period instead of one. You'll attend classes alongside our full-time students in the usual weekday lecture timetable, only you'll do fewer modules per year. The lectures you attend and therefore the days you'll be on campus depend on the modules you take and the days they've been timetabled.
In your first year you'll usually take the four modules (two per term in total), and in your second year you'll usually take the remaining two modules and complete your dissertation.
We do everything we can to make it possible for you to study for an LLM part-time and hold down a job, provided your employers are amenable, so this structure is flexible.
