Introduction
Our LL.M. programme in International and European Law is primarily designed for students who wish to develop their understanding and knowledge of international and European Union law with the intent of pursuing a legal career with a strong international dimension. This Master's offers a thorough education in European law, including competition law, immigration law, external relations law, judicial protection, and public international law. Students receive a sound basis for an international legal career.

Many of the lecturers in this programme also practice law, which gives you an insight into the letter and practice of the law. Law students from Radboud University regularly take part in European Law moot court competitions, which allows them to build their skills and test their theoretical knowledge.

The Master’s programme in International and European Law at Radboud University is unique in that it not only provides a thorough understanding of European law in general but also offers further specialisation. After completing the compulsory courses you can specialise in one of four tracks:
International and European Law AdvancedDevelop an elaborate understanding of European and international law including in-depth knowledge on the external dimension of EU law and the rules that govern the European Union’s international relations.
Human Rights and Migration Understand how international and European legal instruments influence the position and mobility of citizens in the EU and how the major international documents and courts protect the rights of individuals.
Business Law Develop a strong understanding of all aspects of business law and the legal workings of the EU in order to deal with legal issues when doing business in or trading with the European Union.
European Law and Global AffairsThis specialisation offers a unique multidisciplinary programme combining the study of European law and political science. It focuses on the main challenges facing the EU in the 21st century and looks at the various legal rules and policy options that may be developed in response.
Admission requirements
As an international student, your prior education must meet certain requirements.
A completed Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Law equivalent to the Dutch educational level*. For the specialisation European Law and Global Affairs: Students with a degree in Politics, Governance, International Relations, Liberal Arts or equivalent, with a substantial number of courses in Law, are also eligible for admission to this specialisation. These students should provide proof of their knowledge of the basic concepts of Law.

Please explain in your motivation letter why you would like to enrol in the Master’s specialisation of your choice within the International and European Law programme. Also, attach your resume with a photo and your grade list to this letter.Please note:
For those who don’t meet the requirements, Radboud University does not offer a pre-master's programme in International and European Law. If you wish to enter the Master’s programme in International and European Law, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree (from a research university) that meets the requirements.
If you are a Chinese student and want to register as a student on an English-taught programme at a Dutch higher education institution you need to apply for a Nuffic Certificate. More information can be found on the Study in Holland website.
Language Requirements
In order to take part in this programme, you need to have adequate knowledge of English. Non-native speakers of English** need to provide evidence of their proficiency by submitting one of the following tests:
A TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 90 overall (internet-based, with a minimum of 23 for writing) or 575 (paper-based). The institutional TOEFL code for Radboud University is 3387; or
An IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum score of 6.0 minimum for the components listening, reading and speaking and a 6.5 minimum for writing); or
A Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) with grade C or higher or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) with grade C or higher.
Please be aware that the validity of the IELTS and TOEFL certificates is 2 years and the validity of the CAE/CPE 5 years.
Students from EU countries (including Dutch students) who have obtained an LL.B (bachelor's diploma in law) taught in another language than English can take the RATEr test at our language institute Radboud In'to Languages. The Nijmegen Law Faculty will pay for the RATEr-test. We also accept TOEFL, IELTS, CAE and CPE certificates with the scores mentioned above. However, the Law Faculty will not reimburse the costs for these tests.
* Students who obtained their degree in the Netherlands are required to have obtained a Bachelor's degree from a research university (universiteit). Students who have obtained a Bachelor's diploma from a university of applied sciences (hbo) cannot be admitted.
Students who have obtained their diploma in Indonesia, are required to have obtained a Master's degree in Law (Sarjana Hukum II).
** Applicants are considered to be a native speaker of English if they are a citizen of Australia, Canada (with exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, USA or South Africa, or if they have obtained an LL.B (bachelor programme in Law) in one of the countries mentioned above. Students from the European Law School Bachelor at Radboud University, are also exempted from a language test.
