The ever-increasing volume of statute, regulations and case law makes it essential for those working in the area to have a firm understanding of the issues, concepts and principles that lie beneath the detailed law and an appreciation of the economic, social and political forces, whether domestic, European or international, that continue to shape its development. Armed with such knowledge, it is possible to face the challenge of new developments in the subject with confidence. Employment Law is one of the most dynamic and fast-growing areas of legal specialisation. Few areas of law have been the subject of such a rapid transformation in recent times. The aim of this unique programme is to give students a firm grounding in the key areas of employment law and practice and to explore the boundaries of the subject. It covers the central issues and elements in employment law today, such as EC employment law, family policy and discrimination at work.
