In today's challenging and evolving context, the ability to understand the complexity and dynamism of reality requires a multidisciplinary approach. The MSc in Law and Management provides a clear answer to this market need, offering a unique opportunity to train professionals with solid knowledge in both fields.

This area represents the first incursion of our Faculty in interdisciplinary training at the masters level and aims to train professionals qualified to respond to the needs of an organization in global terms, preparing them not only to identify and propose solutions to the issues of the organization, but also to decide and execute.

It was designed for professionals who work in business or other organizations, as well as for those who wish to practice (or practice effectively) business law or business consulting and, of course, business lawyers.... [-]

Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of March 24, establishes that "in university education, the cycle of studies leading to the master's degree should ensure that the student acquires a specialization of academic nature using the research activity , innovation or the deepening of professional competence "(Article 18 (3)). The Master in Law of Catholic Porto aims to give full effect to this objective.

In addition to students holding a degree in Law, holders of other degrees may be admitted, with the same requirements that are required for candidates from other universities.

Benefiting from the experience gained since the curricular reform started in 2003/2004, four fundamental areas of specialization were initially defined: Private Law, Business and Business Law, Criminal Law, Public and International Law; it was understood that these would be, in modern, the main areas of action of the jurist. The definition of the contents related to each area was done according to the same criterion. The confirmation of the emergence of other areas of specialization led, in the following years, to the creation of the area of Tax Law and the launch of the Master in Law and Management. Shortly afterwards, three more areas of specialization were inaugurated: Administrative Law, Public, International and European Law and Labor Law.... [-]

LL.M. Law in A European and Global Context

This is a programme like no other offered in Europe. It is not simply one more programme focusing on European and International Law, our aim is to teach Law in a European and Global Context and to do so with a top international faculty and employing new methodologies and pedagogical techniques.

WHY LAW IN A EUROPEAN AND GLOBAL CONTEXT Law is changing. Lawyers increasingly need to operate in the context of a plurality of jurisdictions and legal sources. As a consequence, a growing number of legal actors (in courts as outside courts and even in the legislative process) need to operate in multiple jurisdictions and be comfortable working with different legal sources. At the same time, economic and social integration increases the multinational character of the cases in which lawyers are called in to assist on a daily basis. This has also given rise to an emerging international market for legal services. All this requires a different type of lawyer from the traditional lawyer trained exclusively in a particular domestic legal system. It requires a truly international legal education, where courses are specifically tailored to meet the challenges of this pluralism of legal sources and jurisdictions. This is the purpose of this Master/LL.M. Degree on Law in a European and Global Context. The programme will adopt the approach to teaching that Joseph Weiler has coined as “Total Law™”. This represents a bold pedagogical and intellectual break with the traditional ways of teaching... [-]
