The program is fully customizable and students will have the option to select courses that are more closely related to their interest and goals. Our Faculty Director, Professor Aaron Ghirardelli, will guide students through the selection of courses and the designing of the LLM curriculum. The General LLM program is usually chosen by students interested in becoming eligible to take the California or New York Bar Exam or by students having interest in areas of law that are not currently covered by one of our specializations. LLM Specializations Loyola Law School also offers specializations in several areas of law. Enrolling in a specialization is the perfect choice for students particularly interested in a particular area of law. The curriculum of each specialization has been carefully tailored to equip graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the specialized topic. Specializations are open to students who received their law degree from a school in a foreign country and to students with a JD from an ABA-accredited American law school. JD students must have received their JD degree at least three years before applying to the LLM program. The LLM provides students with the theoretical and practical framework to become skilled leaders in the field of  tax law.  In order to apply to this Master of Laws program,  you  must have received your JD degree from a U.S. law school or  you  must have a law degree (such as a Bachelor of Laws) from an accredited institution in a country other than the United States.  The LLM in Taxation degree requires completion of 24 credits of coursework including five required courses: Corporate Tax (3 credits), Partnership Tax (3 credits), International Tax (3 credits), Taxation of Property Transactions (2 credits), and Tax Practice and Penalties (3 credits). Required courses can be waived by the director of the tax program upon good cause shown by any student. The remaining required credit hours can be selected from our broad selection of tax course offerings and (with permission of the director of the tax program) other related courses. LLM in Comparative Law PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The LLM in  Comparative  Law program is specifically designed for attorneys and law school graduates educated outside of the United States.  Candidates for the LLM in  Comparative  Law are enrolled in two required courses,  Introduction to U.S. Law  and  Legal Writing and Research.  Except for these two required courses, candidates in the  Comparative  Law program choose their courses from the same curriculum as JD students and other LLM students.   Students whose native language is not English are also eligible to receive extra time on examinations and the use of a translating dictionary, provided they submit a TOEFL/IELTS score at the time of admission.    While students take most of the same courses as JD and other LLM candidates, they have the advantage of access to the two required courses and exam accommodations.  In addition, the School of Law is pleased to offer specialised  Concentration areas within the LLM in  Comparative  Law:
