Introduction
The L.L.B. Honours Commercial Law Programme is offered at Middlesex University campuses in London and Dubai. Throughout this program, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to follow a career in law. The program satisfies the requirements of the UK professional bodies, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and the Bar Standards Board to enable graduates to proceed to the professional exams, Legal Practice Course, or Bar Professional Training Course if they wish to do so. It additionally develops your understanding of the ethical, social, political, economic, cultural, and historical contexts within which the law operates, as well as providing skills of legal analysis and an ability to evaluate legal systems and processes. Students get special knowledge on how the law governs national and international business and trade.
Why Study L.L.B. Honours Commercial Law?
The L.L.B. Honours Commercial Law combines the compulsory ‘Foundations of Legal Knowledge’, a requirement of the legal professional bodies to satisfy the first academic stage of professional legal education, with optional modules that allow students to gain specialist knowledge and understanding of Commercial Law and its complexities and to develop skills and expertise to move towards qualification and practice in this area.
Mode of Study Options: It is expected that by September 2021 we will have In-person classes and these could be supported by an online element. It is too early to commit to a 100% Online at present as it will depend on the Health & Safety situation and KHDA permissions. We can say at present that if the Health & Safety situation warrants it there could be a 100% online along with in-person classes.

Teaching
You will be actively involved in a range of learning, teaching, and assessment approaches as part of your program. Such participative approaches aim to put you at the center of your learning so you are involved and engaged in all aspects of your assessment and learning. Your program will require deep involvement in learning activities and collaboration with your fellow students, working and learning with others as part of small groups. Learning activities may also occur both within and outside the classroom. Workshops are used to enhance a range of skills and focus on specific areas of expertise. Group work and moots (pretend courts) will hone your verbal arguing and presentation skills.
Your learning will also be supported by technology. Increasingly your tutors will be using existing and emerging learning technologies to engage you in e-learning activities. Your program may be facilitated using a variety of media and online tools (My Learning on UniHub, podcasts, wikis, etc.). By engaging with e-learning you will also be developing skills that are essential for your learning and are also highly valued by employers. These include but are not limited to: working flexibly, communication, understanding of IT, team working, and creating shared understandings based on quality resources and access to global expertise.
You will develop your knowledge of all aspects of law and commercial law at lectures, seminars, and workshops, and supplement this with your own independent study.
- Lectures are often interactive, involving exercises and informal assessment by other students, and by you of your own work.
- Seminars are small group discussions that you will need to prepare for in advance. Here you will learn to analyze legal principles and apply them to practical situations, assess competing arguments, and choose between alternative approaches.
- Group work and moots (pretend courts) will hone your verbal arguing and presentation skills. Personal and career development, as well as group work, are reinforced through workshops.
The course will also teach you to do legal research and to review information from academic sources, journals, and electronic resources. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to do your own research into an aspect of commercial law that the course has not covered. The course also includes dedicated careers events, and a program of guest speakers drawn from the legal profession and other careers, as well as extra-curricular student-led activities, careers events, and talks by guest speakers from the legal profession
