Introduction
University Paris-Panthéon-Assas: a top global law school in Mauritius
Considered as France’s premier law school, University Paris-Panthéon-Assas is present in Mauritius since 2015 where it offers an LL.B. (Hons), a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance (Hons) and an LL.M. International Business Law, all taught in English. University Paris-Panthéon-Assas, home to the origins of French Law, adopted in 2011 an ambitious internationalisation strategy, which included the setting up of the overseas campuses in Singapore, Mauritius and Dubai.
The 3-year LL.B., 3-year B.A. (Hons) and 10-month LLM programmes are taught by faculty members of University Paris-Panthéon-Assas as well as law practitioners and professionals with international and local expertise.
The LL.B. course structure is designed to meet the requirements of both home-based and international students with optional streams covering Common Law, Civil Law, Mauritian Law, International Law and Comparative Law. Students thus benefit from world-class training in the country’s mixed legal system and in other areas of law which enable them to pursue further studies or careers overseas.
The LL.M. International Business Law course is similar to those offered at the Paris, Dubai and Singapore campuses and is designed to meet the requirements of both legal and non-legal professionals who wish to take their careers to the next level.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and Finance (Hons) is a 3-year Honours Programme specifically designed to provide students with a strong base in theoretical, quantitative, and analytical skills, necessary to pursue studies in highly selective masters degrees as well as further careers in the areas of Business, Data Science and Finance.
The bachelor’s degree programme is renowned for its exceptional selectivity and recognition in French rankings, with Paris-Panthéon-Assas University consistently holding the top position in France, especially in the fields of economics and management, where it excels in terms of graduates’ job integration and earning potential*.
A long-lasting commitment
Today, the university is more than ever committed to developing its overseas presence, in particular in Mauritius. This includes upgraded premises, with a student lounge and library, offices for its dedicated staff as well as new audio and video technology to improve students’ experience of face-to-face or (in exceptional circumstances when required) online teaching. For Professor Anthony Mergey, Dean of the Mauritius campus, “The refurbished premises as well as the constant growth in local and international student population reflect the interest and relevance of our programmes. Our aim is to expand our reach over the coming years by offering a wider range of courses, at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive level.”
