Introduction

The LL.M in Energy & Natural Resources Law program consists of a full course of study over two semesters from August to May of each year. The LLM degree requires a minimum 24 credits with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4-point scale. Students will be expected to complete courses on Energy Research, Analysis, and Writing; Oil and Gas Law (Basic and Advanced); Environmental or International Environmental Law; Administrative Law and Climate Change.

In addition, students will choose from other courses in the College of Law’s Sustainable Energy and Resources Law (SERL) curriculum, such as Energy Regulation; Water Law; International Energy and Natural Resources Law; and Natural Resources and Environmental Law on Federal Lands. Foreign-trained LLM degree candidates also enroll in a one-semester course designed to introduce US law.

Students are invited to choose an elective from any of the many courses offered by TU College of Law and the other graduate departments of The University of Tulsa, such as the business and engineering colleges.

This is a 24 credit degree program that begins on campus mid-August of each year. All students are required attend a multi-day “Foundations of Legal Studies” orientation before classes begin in August.
