Introduction
Access requirements
To be admitted to the Master, you must be in possession of a Law Degree, Law Graduate or other equivalent Bachelor's degree that meets the requirements established in article 3 of the Regulation of Law 34/2006 of October 30 on access to the professions of Lawyer and Court Attorney, approved by Royal Decree 775/2011 of June 3. The completion of the Master of Law, by itself, does not qualify for the exercise of the profession, being necessary the subsequent overcoming of the mandatory State examination by the Ministry of Justice.
In accordance with Royal Decree 967/2014 of November 21, on the Homologation of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications to Official Spanish University Bachelor's or Master's degrees that give access to a regulated profession in Spain, all foreign students who wish to take the Master's degree in Access to the practice of law, whether European or not, must present a legalized degree in accordance with the procedure established in said regulation, according to the interpretation given by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Sports. Applicants with degrees obtained in European higher education institutions of the EHEA must provide the validation of the degree by a Spanish university
Applicants with degrees obtained in States that are not members of the European Union or signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area must be in possession of the credential that proves their homologation.
Professional outings
The University Master's Degree in Law from the University of Oviedo complies with Law 34/2006 on access to the professions of Lawyer and Attorney and what is stipulated in the Regulations of this law developed in Royal Decree 775/2011, of June 3.
It constitutes the specialized training necessary for the exercise of the profession in the terms provided in the aforementioned Regulation. The following participate in its teaching: the School of Legal Practice of the Principality of Asturias, the Illustrious Bar Association of Oviedo and the Illustrious Bar Association of Gijón.
The completion of the Master in Law, by itself, does not qualify for the exercise of the profession, being necessary the subsequent overcoming of the mandatory State examination by the Ministry of Justice.
Curriculum
This master's degree of 90 ECTS credits is structured in three main blocks, namely:
- A first block composed of modules with subjects based on lectures with a total of 54 ECTS.
- A second block consisting of a module of external practices with a total of 30 ECTS, as ordered by RD 775/2011.
- A third and last block consisting of a module with the final project, with a total of 6 ECTS, in which the student must prepare and defend a Master's Final Project in which they will carry out a critical analysis of some aspect of the professional practice of the legal profession or research work on professional practice.
From a time perspective, the Master is structured in three semesters. During the first and second semester all the subjects that have lectures are taught. In the second semester, the external internships begin, and in the last semester, in addition to completing the external internships, students must complete the Master's Final Project.
