Admissions

Entry Requirements

The Warwick IFP is designed for students who require additional study before they can join an undergraduate degree in the UK, usually because their local curriculum is not accepted for direct entry to undergraduate study.

For this reason, we do not accept students who have studied A Levels, IB Diploma, or any other qualification that allows progression directly to a UK university.

The lists below show the typical level of offers that we will make, according to the type of qualification being studied - National School Qualifications and/or International School Qualifications. All applicants are also required to show that their English language ability meets our minimum standards, as well as submit a personal statement according to our guidance.

Some of our courses have subject-specific requirements:

  • For our Finance, Mathematics and Statistics, Economics, and Computer Science courses, Mathematics is required, and you will have specific grade requirements for this subject.
  • For our Physics and Engineering IFP, Mathematics and Physics will be required, and you will have specific grade requirements for these subjects.
  • For our Biological Sciences and Psychology IFP, either Biology or Psychology will be required, and you will have specific grade requirements for these subjects.

International School Qualifications

  • IGCSEs/GCSEs - at least 4 subjects at grade A or above, with remaining subjects no lower than grade B
  • AS Levels - at least 3 subjects at grade B or above
  • IB Certificate - at least 5 points in all subjects taken

English Language Requirements

All applicants are required to show that their English ability is at a suitable level for their IFP course - the level required depends on which IFP course you wish to study. You do not need to have an English Language Test to apply - we can still assess you for a place on the program and if you are successful, we will issue an offer that is conditional on you submitting an acceptable English language qualification ahead of the course starting.

Several English language tests are accepted; some of the most frequently offered ones are detailed below. Applicants who require a visa to study in the UK will be required to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT), due to the visa requirements set by the UK Government. Please note that certain English tests (including IELTS and PTE) must be taken within two years before the start of your IFP course.

Visa Requirements

You may require a visa to study in the UK on the Warwick IFP if you are from outside Europe and not eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme.

If you need a visa to study in the UK, then usually you'll need to apply via the Student Route.

As part of the admissions process, we will ask you whether you need a visa for your studies. If you do, then you will be issued a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Number. We start to issue CAS numbers to unconditional offer holders approximately three months before the start of the course.

You will receive full instructions and guidance from the Admissions team about receiving your CAS number at the appropriate time.
