A Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence degree is a graduate law degree earned by completing a two- to four-year law school program. JDs are offered in the US, where there is no undergraduate degree offered to those wishing to practice law. JD holders may practice law in a given U.S. state after passing a bar examination.
