In the course of its reorganization in 2007, Leuphana introduced a university model unique to the German academic landscape. By spring 2009 the following new academic schools had been established: College: Award-winning bachelor´s program providing a variety of perspectives A college at which students can obtain their first academic degree: since 2007 the Leuphana Bachelor’s program has been offering a homogeneously structured and interdisciplinary oriented program of study. It is targeted toward students who are interested in more than specialized knowledge and who enjoy working in an independent and responsible manner. Graduate School: Combining interdisciplinary master’s degrees with doctoral studies The Graduate School offers master’s programs with specialization in the following three thematic fields: Governance & Law, Humanities & Socila Sciences, Management & Entrepreneurship, and Education. The study model of the Graduate School offers graduate students the opportunity to intertwine their master’s studies with doctoral studies. Furthermore we offer doctoral candidates from all over the world the opportunity to work and research in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment. Professional School: Continuing education and business outreach for professionals and corporations The school offers programs for continuing education and optimal conditions for lifelong learning (since 2009). The Professional School is geared toward working with adults who are interested in furthering their educational goals – ranging from those who have just joined the job market to senior managers.

Science initiatives focus on Education, Humanities & Social Sciences, Business & Economics, Sustainability Our research activities are focused on four science initiatives – each with a transdisciplinary approach. To pursue its research goals, the University appointed about 50 new professors (until 2012). These new positions were added to the professorships already existing in the following areas: education, management and entrepreneurship, cultural research, and sustainability. Responsibility lies with the Faculties.

The two-year dual degree study programme focuses on international economic law and has been jointly developed by the University of Glasgow in Scotland and Leuphana University of Lüneburg.


Integrating public and private economic law, the programme brings together two areas of law that are often covered independently in legal literature as well as in teaching. This division will be overcome within the framework of this programme to provide students with a holistic approach to the international economic law that characterizes this area of law in practice. The programme aims to deliver a broad, scientific and profound engagement with the players and structures of international economic law (first study year in Lüneburg) and, as well as to facilitate an additional specialisation in one of the core subjects of international economic law such as Corporate & Financial Law, International Commercial Law, International Competition Law & Policy or Intellectual Property & the Digital Economy (second study year in Glasgow). The professional Master's programme Competition & Regulation LL.M. is located in two growing and major legal fields, regulation, and competition law. Students also learn about the economic aspects of the legal fields which are becoming increasingly significant after the introduction of the “more economic approach” in legal theory.

The new continuing-education Master's programme resulting in an LL.M. in Competition & Regulation is intended for jurists, lawyer trainees, assessors and attorneys interested in further qualifications in the areas of competition and regulatory law.
