Integrity In all interactions, our school possesses an all-embracing commitment to integrity. Our Community Our community is as diverse as it gets, but we are still quite close with a low student/faculty ratio, small and modest-sized classes and an impressive and active global alumni network. Accessible CEU Business School is fortunate in being accessible to all deserving students worldwide. Due to the generosity of our founder, George Soros, we can keep tuition incredibly low for our acknowledged high-quality programs. Learn More Now So, if you aspire to leadership, if you possess an adventurous spirit, and if you want a management-education experience in synch with the times, we invite you to learn more about what our programs can offer you. CEU Business School and George Soros CEU Business School was founded in Budapest in 1988 by a group of visionary leaders headed by legendary investor and philanthropist George Soros. We are rapidly emerging under our new leadership. With assistance from an endowment 3x the per-student value of that possessed by Oxford and Cambridge, we offer educational program opportunities which are uniquely relevant for today's challenges, and which are offered at a highly subsidized tuition rate. CEU Business School, a US-chartered institution founded by George Soros in 1988, trained the cadre of CEE managers and entrepreneurs who led the successful transition from a socialist to a market economy. Offering an American MBA and adhering to world-class standards of excellence in teaching and intellectual leadership, the School is now embarking on its equally exciting second-quarter century. Its overreaching commitment now is to provide emerging and re-emerging economies with the most effective and relevant theory and practice in state-of-the-art management. The school emphasizes especially innovation and entrepreneurship, integrity management, leadership, and managerial professionalism. The School’s distinguished faculty are respected pacesetters in their fields, and its students are expected to make an impact and are prepared to have multiple high-level and creative careers throughout their professional lives. We believe, along with George Soros, that the world needs managers capable of dealing with rapidly changing environments and appreciating the impact of their actions on the business, social, and natural environment. Thus, the mission has evolved to a more global one focused on emerging economies as a particular opportunity to impact new managers and how they influence our future. A global financier and philanthropist, George Soros is the founder and chairman of a network of foundations that promote the creation of open, democratic societies, based upon the rule of law, market economies, transparent and accountable governance, freedom of the press and respect for human rights. CEU's diverse activities including top-education, world-class research and influential international conferences are a key pillar in this mission to build open societies worldwide. Every year, Mr. Soros attends the CEU Graduation Ceremony to personally hand over the Diplomas to all students graduating, and is active as an advisor, advocate and guest lecturer. The legal predecessor of our University was the Reformed Theological Academy of Budapest, founded in 1855 and granted University status by the Hungarian Parliament in 1900. In 1993 the General Assembly of the Hungarian Reformed Church took the decision to establish a multifaculty University, and this decision was approved later on in the year on 21st September by the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary. Through the creation of Károli Gáspár University, the Hungarian Re… [+] formed Church has fulfilled the aims of its forefathers. Our University, in the spirit of the universitas scientiarium, aims to raise the status of not solely the Church, but also the nation, through its educational, teaching and academic work. The commitment of Károli Gáspár University is to carry on the distinguished traditions of the Reformed Colleges of Sárospatak (founded in 1531), Pápa (founded in 1531), Debrecen (founded in 1538), Kolozsvár (founded in1622) and Nagyenyed (founded in 1632). In addition to the education of ministers of religion, for the purposes of academic research, training for the position of lecturer and for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, and the awarding of degrees, its aims and objectives are to provide BA and MA level basic education in several fields and branches of scholarship, and to be capable of carrying out academic research, in accordance with the aforementioned traditions and in the spirit of the Reformation. The Hungarian Accreditation Committee, in Decision no.1 of June 6th 2000 regarding the standard of education and academic research carried out at Károli Gáspár University, granted our University accredited status as a result of the fact that our educational and research activities conform with the laws currently in force and are, additionally, in accordance with the Hungarian Accreditation Committee opinion and with their guidelines on educational standards. Together, may we receive inspiration on the path to knowledge, morality or goodwill. Every third level study involves a significant component, the participation in international education. Our University puts special emphasis on the opportunities for part-time studies as exchange programmes. Numerous programmes of the European Union make active participation of students in mobility programmes possible. After the foundation of our University we first developed relationships with the Dutch region, but by now we have expanded our connections with the neighbouring countries, overseas and with religious and public universities all over the European Union. We receive continuous financial and professional support from the Socrates and Lifelong Learning Programme/Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci or CEEPUS programmes of the European Commission. Our University’s departments maintain mainly student and teacher mobility relationships but we do consider further developments like joint educational modules, curriculum development and the evolvement of new study programmes. Our aim is to strengthen the European dimension by the complete recognition of credits acquired abroad, the development of the quality of education and foreign language teaching, the extension of projects based on international relationships, the comparison of different educational structures and policies and the use of commonly gained insights. About Budapest and Hungary The area of Hungary is barely 100,000 square km with 10 million inhabitants, whose language is spoken nowhere else in the world. Despite or due to this uniqueness, the Hungarian people have been living in the centre of Europe for over 1,100 years. The natural, cultural and historical riches to be experienced in Hungary are reflected in its high concentration of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, many of which can be found in the capital. Budapest is a hive of top-class music and art, with one of the world’s best opera houses and a host of museums and galleries. Its festivals of all kind (may they be fine art, music, or gastronomy) take place all through the year. Lake Balaton, ideal for sailing and sunbathing, is the largest lake in Central Europe. Nearby is the famous spa town of Hévíz where you can enjoy the pleasure of bathing in a natural thermal lake even in the depths of winter. Hungary’s springs have supported a bathing culture dating back to Roman times. Whether you are after relaxation, refreshment, rejuvenation or recovery, Hungary cannot fail to meet your needs. If you like to keep active and get back to nature, there are countless marked routes for hiking, cycling or horseback riding, often through stunning scenery. This country is the birthplace of world-famous inventors, scientists, explorers, composers and sports stars. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.

Founded in 1875, the Liszt Academy is the only institution bearing the name of Ferenc Liszt in which the great composer himself had an active role in establishing. The university, which has been functioning for more than 140 years, is the bastion of music teaching and musicology in Hungary. The Grand Hall boasting unparalleled acoustics is a legendary concert venue in the Art Nouveau conservatory (1907) on Liszt Ferenc Square. Since its reconstruction in 2013, the institution… [+] has handled independent professional concert organizing activities and earned itself a reputation globally both as a university and a concert centre. The founder also defined the mission of the Liszt Academy. The unique performing career, the compositions combining music traditions with a progressive approach, and the far-reaching, altruistic personality of Ferenc Liszt frames a heritage on which the music teaching of the academy has been able to sustain itself to the present day, and which serves as a benchmark for the very highest professional standards. The ‘forebears’ of Liszt Academy piano professors can, without exception, be traced back to Liszt since all were indirectly students of the great artist. Highly respected professors currently teaching in the institution are the heirs of such legendary musicians as Jenő Hubay, Dávid Popper, Leó Weiner and Ernő Dohnányi, while Liszt Academy students follow in the footsteps of such world-famous alumni as György Solti, Antal Doráti, Sándor Végh, Tamás Vásáry, György Pauk, András Schiff, Dezső Ránki and Zoltán Kocsis. The university considers its primary objectives to be the creation of the music of the future as well as nurturing traditions. From this point of view, too, there are precedents: amongst the great innovators of the 20th and 21st centuries, Bartók, Kodály, Ligeti, György Kurtág and Péter Eötvös are closely associated with the Liszt Academy in countless different ways. The spirit of the Liszt Academy is firmly international. Many former students were forced to leave Hungary in the wake of historical upheavals, going on to become key figures in the 20th century history of music performance art around the world. Seeing the university’s many alumni and honorary professors, one can be in no doubt whatsoever that the Liszt Academy is one of the most significant wellsprings of music’s world heritage. By tradition, the Liszt Academy is the custodian of the ‘Hungarian school’, whether one is talking about the significance of chamber music, the passionate perfectionism so typical of teachers of the arts, or indeed the legacy of the Kodály method defining the foundations of music education. Classes are organized on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, and masters-level training is available in virtually every department, the majority in English as well. The Special School for Young Talents accepts applications from highly gifted students from the age of 8 upwards. Musicology candidates can study for a PhD and artists a DLA qualification in the Doctoral School. Students from more than 40 countries attend courses at the Liszt Academy; the proportion of foreign students has been around 20% for several years. The international status of the institution is indicated by the fact that the 2016 top list of one of the most recognized global educational surveys ranks the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music as the 30th best performance arts university in the world. The Liszt Academy is deservedly popular not only for its traditions and refined, passionate methods of teaching but also for its central location. The university is positioned in one of the most culturally inspiring capitals of Europe, indeed right in the heart of the bustling downtown. Today, following the total reconstruction of the music conservatory on Liszt Ferenc Square (completed: 2013) and the inauguration of the new educational block named after György Ligeti, its superb infrastructural conditions also lift it among the world’s leading academies. In the course of the reconstruction of the main building of this historical monument, the principal goals were to preserve the art history values of the building, revive the original magnificence of the spaces as well as shape an educational and concert environment meeting – in every respect – the requirements of the 21st century. Modern stage and studio technology and backstage systems were installed alongside the creation of instrument storage areas, orchestra, chorus and soloist dressing rooms. By roofing over two inner courtyards and carrying out construction work in the basement and loft it has been possible to extend the areas open to the public, new lifts and wheelchair accessible ramps have been built, and air-conditioning installed in the building. Classrooms have been fully sound insulated and fitted with multimedia teaching aids. Last but by no means least, many new instruments have been procured. The reconstruction project was awarded two major prizes at the real estate development tender of the FIABCI Grand Prix d’Excellence and the project also won a Europa Nostra prize in 2015. Prior to the redevelopment, the Liszt Academy focused almost exclusively on organizing programmes related to its teaching programme. This meant that the institution generally rented out the space for concerts held there, in other words, it was not an active participant in shaping concert programmes. This situation was transformed in 2013: now the Liszt Academy Concert Centre arranges the majority of concerts itself, although naturally the halls are made available for other events and organizers. Since the institution now organizes its own concerts, professors and the most gifted students of the academy have become familiar figures on the Budapest concert scene and over the years the Liszt Academy has extended invitations to such major domestic and foreign stars as Steve Reich, Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Pekka Kuusisto, Isabelle Faust, David Lang, Jordi Savall, Chick Corea, Denis Matsuev, The King’s Consort, Charles Dutoit, Magdalena Kožená, Mischa Maisky, Pinchas Steinberg and Rachel Podger. The image and communication programme completely overhauled in parallel with the main building derive from the rebirth of the Liszt Academy that attracted international attention. Logos, the publication portfolio and the new websites embedded in the fabric of the rich tradition of the Liszt Academy build on the fertile tension of patina and progress, forming an immediately recognizable code system through the characteristic laurel motifs, the ultramodern font types and the tonal system using primarily cyan and shades of gold. Since 2013, the redesigned image and communication have received numerous accolades from the creative profession both in Hungary and abroad: two Red Dot Design Awards, the Chicago Film Festival’s Silver Hugo and tributes from Communication Arts Magazine, the Design Management Prize, the Mediadesign and Kreatív Craft Award, and a total of 16 diplomas from Hipnózis and Arany Penge advertisement competitions. In 2016, the Liszt Academy won the European Heritage Label for its outstanding role on the European music scene, for its preservation of European traditions, its creativity and openness worthy of the spirit of Ferenc Liszt, and for its dynamism springing from the duality of university and concert centre activities. The Liszt Academy is an exemplary cultural institution of the highest standard in Budapest. Its foundation coincided with the birth of this metropolis on the Danube, it is located in the heart of the city and its intellectual-artistic influence is truly universal. About the University The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest is the only music academy in the world that was founded by Franz Liszt. The piano virtuoso, composer, conductor, teacher, author and philanthropist established the institution in 1875. "Génie oblige!" was his credo: the duty of an artist is to use his gifts for the benefit of humanity and to nurture genuine talent. Teaching at the Liszt Academy is rooted in this principle, reflecting the vision of its open and versatile internationally recognised founder, who was years ahead of his time. A straight line can be traced through four generations from Liszt to the Academy's piano professors of today. It is perhaps not too much of an overstatement to say that no other music school has had such an immense impact on the development of the world's musical scene as the Liszt Academy. Liszt, Hubay, Popper, Dohnányi, Bartók, Weiner, Kodály are among the great professors who figure in the Academy's history. The impressive list of our Honorary Faculty Members bridges genres, continents and ages. Our prestigious alumni were - or still are – beacons in every musical field, whose contributions to the world's cultural heritage are immeasurable. The Academy has always taken pride in meeting the standards set by its founders and revered professors. This means students encounter a special and demanding Hungarian style of teaching. Education here focuses on understanding the meaning of music and the art of ensemble playing. Those who enter the Liszt Academy know that attendance involves a serious commitment to a perfectionist approach to music. Studying here means hard and disciplined work under the guidance of professors who are renowned artists, visiting professors at other illustrious universities, jury members of international competitions, for whom teaching is a passion. The Liszt Academy is proud to have outstanding, highly experienced, and even young professors. Teaching is conducted on a one-to-one basis and in small groups and workshops. The Liszt Academy does not strive to train students in large numbers but respects the individual needs of each talented student. All classical instruments, singing/opera, jazz and folk music, orchestral/choral conducting, music pedagogy, composition are offered as majors. Musical pedagogy tuition is based on the Kodály concept; the Liszt Academy, with its Kodály Institute, is the place where the pedagogical legacy of Kodály is most authentically maintained. Student who study chamber music, a tradition of unique richness maintained by the Academy, will be given lots of performance opportunities. The Academy's choir and symphony orchestra maintain rigorous standards, and are conducted by widely renowned guest conductors such as Zoltán Kocsis, Helmut Rilling, Peter Schreier. Lessons in the main instrumental/singing subjects are available in English and/or German, based upon prior agreement with the teacher. Group lessons are held in English. Full-time tuition in non-instrumental majors is offered in English, provided there are a minimum of five international students admitted to a given major in a year. Full-time tuition is provided for BA (6 semesters) and MA (4 semesters) degrees. For international students, musical teacher trainees and choral conductors, the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Kecskemét offers comprehensive non-degree, BA and MA degree courses in Kodály Music Pedagogy along with the biennial summer seminars. The Special School for Exceptional Young Talents is open to especially gifted students of piano, violin and cello aged from 8 to 18 (age limit at the time of application: 13). Those who wish to proceed with their training after graduation may apply to the Academy's DLA, PhD programmes. Non-degree tuition is also available, covering 1 or 2 lessons in the instrumental majors plus 1 optional chamber music lesson per week. Although this course does not lead to a diploma, the student is granted a certificate. Preparation courses are also available, targeted for would-be full-time students to provide potential applicants with the necessary instrumental and theoretical background prior to the highly demanding entrance exam.
Central European University is a graduate-level “crossroads” university where faculty and students from more than 100 countries come to engage in interdisciplinary education, pursue advanced scholarship, and address some of society’s most vexing problems. It is accredited in both the United States and Hungary, and offers English-language Master's and doctoral programs in the social sciences, the humanities, law, management and public policy. Located in the heart of Ce… [+] ntral Europe -- Budapest, Hungary -- CEU has developed a distinct academic and intellectual focus, combining the comparative study of the region's historical, cultural, and social diversity with a global perspective on good governance, sustainable development and social transformation. Founded in 1991 at a time when revolutionary changes were throwing off the rigid orthodoxies imposed on Central and Eastern Europe, CEU is based on the premise that human fallibility can be counterbalanced by the critical discussion of ideas and that this critical spirit can be sustained best in societies where citizens have the freedom to scrutinize competing theories and openly evaluate and change government policies. With approximately 1,400 students and 370 faculty members from more than 130 countries, CEU is one of the most densely international universities in the world. Its rare mix of nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures creates an ideal environment for examining such “open society” subjects as emerging democracies, transitional economies, media freedom, nationalism, human rights, and the rule of law. It also brings multifaceted perspective to all aspects of community life. CEU is known for excellence in teaching and research—with purpose. At the core of its mission lies a set of principles: the pursuit of truth wherever it leads, respect for the diversity of cultures and peoples, and commitment to resolve differences through debate not denial. The School of Public Policy at Central European University is, in the words of its founder, George Soros, a “new kind of global institution dealing with global problems” through multi-disciplinary study of public policy, innovative teaching and research, as well as meaningful engagement with policy practice. We are a global institution committed to creating a community of purpose beyond power. Public policy today is in a global, multi-level crisis. Tipping the scales towards a more secure peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability – to name but a few – requires innovative and entrepreneurial engagement for the common good. Building a multi-disciplinary and global institution committed to the values of open society and creating strong and flexible links between research and practice is one way of responding to what is, overall, a failure of policy elites to tackle the most urgent problems of our time. Successful engagement for the public good in today’s world also requires a better and fairer representation of diverging perspectives. To that end, SPP is vigorously inclusive, attracting both students and faculty from diverse backgrounds and tapping into a wide variety of knowledge sources. SPP’s students are the future social and political entrepreneurs, equipped to make innovative contributions towards resolving the paramount public policy challenges of the 21st century. SPP offers three master's degrees in public policy, and the public policy track of the Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science program. The programs are tailored for students from around the world seeking careers in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors at the local, national, and international levels. The School boasts a team of outstanding resident faculty, world-class visiting faculty made up of top researchers, and practitioners in the public policy field who bring a wide array of academic and practical subjects to SPP's diverse classroom. The School has launched global initiatives and hosted numerous public events that have focused on developing an innovative research agenda while deepening cooperation with the Open Society Foundations and its networks. SPP has also built strategic partnerships with policy actors across the globe and is home to two policy centers: the Center for Media, Data and Society and the Shattuck Center on Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery.
In 2000, when we had the opportunity to become an independent higher educational institution, we had a definite notion of how to become the intellectual innovation centre of Dunaújváros and the region. We alleged the enlargement of our training and research areas into this service; we have been building a European Campus. For today we can claim that we are prepared for the challenge - with the motorway M6 and the bridge built near Dunaújváros named about the former name of … [+] the settlement, - to build the latest logistic centre of Hungary. With our conscious educational and infrastructural developments we achieved that the number of students has been ten folded in the last fifteen years, and now we have about 3500 students. From 2006 we offer eight BSc/BA undergraduate programmes and twelve higher-level vocational training courses. From 2007 our first Master course, the Teacher of Engineering MA programme is also available. Our History McDaniel College, Westminster, MD, was founded in 1867, and is one of the first coeducational colleges in the United States. It was originally named after the Western Maryland Railroad Company, whose president offered a generous donation for the building of the first residence halls on College Hill in Westminster, the seat of Carroll County, in Maryland. The college was renamed McDaniel College in 2002, in honor of William Roberts McDaniel, a distinguished… [+] member of the college community – a graduate, later professor, President and Trustee in the first decade of the twentieth century – whose leadership greatly contributed to the growth of the institution. The Budapest campus of McDaniel College was established in 1994. It is located in a beautifully restored, turn of the century school building. Since its founding, more than 200 students who began their studies in Budapest have graduated from McDaniel College. Our Mission THE FIRST PRINCIPLES McDANIEL College believes that liberally educated men and women think and act critically, creatively, and humanely. They take charge of their lives and develop their unique potential with reason, imagination, and human concern. They take their place in the global community, understanding their responsibilities to aid individuals and to contribute to the larger society. McDaniel accepts the challenge to provide an academic and social environment that promotes liberal learning. We strive to place students at the center of a humane environment so that they may see and work toward their personal goals while respecting others and sharing responsibility for the common good. We provide a foundation of knowledge about the past and present so that students may be informed about the world. We provide various approaches to knowledge and personal achievement so that students can think critically about, respond creatively to, and form sensitive, intelligent decisions concerning the world and its future. We provide instruction in fundamental skills so that the students can express themselves for their own satisfaction and to the larger community. We provide solid and respected professional programs for the committed student, and, more important, we provide a liberal arts education as an integral part of professional training so that the student will be more flexible, more successful, and happier in the world of work. In the classrooms, in the residence halls, in the laboratories, on the playing fields, and in the lounges, McDaniel College works to disseminate these First Principles. Budapest Campus The Budapest campus is situated in a beautifully restored school building originally constructed in 1896. The building sits on a tree-shaded square across from the Veterinary College of Saint Istvan University. A computer lab, reading room, fully equipped classrooms, a cafeteria, a Students’ Club room, and gym facilities are available for student use. Located in the VII district of Budapest, the campus is easily accessible by public transportation, so commuting is easy no matter where a student lives in the city. McDaniel students come from many different countries, but they have one thing in common –opportunities for a rich life outside the classroom and they quickly come to realize that the entire city of Budapest is a potential campus. Various cultural events, cinemas, theatres offering plays in English, international festivals, sport events, and lively nightspots, all at reasonable prices, make the city attractive for students’ interests and budgets. In addition, during the academic year many extra-curricular activities are organized by the College such as day trips, hiking in the Buda hills, visits to museums, guest lectures, and parties. The modern University of Pécs was founded on 1 January 2000 through the merger of Janus Pannonius University, the Medical University of Pécs and the Illyés Gyula Teacher Training College of Szekszárd. However, its roots go back to 1367 when the Anjou king of Hungary, Louis the Great established the first Hungarian university in Pécs. With its ten faculties - Faculty of Adult Education and Human Resources Development, Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Illyés Gyula… [+] , Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Law, Medical School, Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, Faculty of Sciences and Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology - the University of Pécs plays a significant role in Hungarian higher education. The University offers a broad range of training and degree programmes, ensuring high-level knowledge-transfer and research. With its students and nearly 2,000 teaching and research staff the impact of the University of Pécs extends well beyond the borders of Pécs. A modern higher educational training system initiated by the European Union was introduced in Hungary too, known as the Bologna process, which offers students an opportunity to pursue their studies in a dynamically developing, convertible European higher educational system. The traditional college and university level training programmes were replaced by a three-tier system consisting of a basic training programme (BA, BSc), a master level programme (MA, MSc), and doctoral level (PhD, DLA) programme. In order to meet the demands and the needs of the surrounding community for continuing education, the University of Pécs has started to develop its programmes within the area of life-long learning. In addition, the University attaches great importance to training in the colleges for advanced studies. Nearly every Faculty offers training in the framework of this organisation that encourages students to pursue their own research. Due to the credit system, first introduced in Hungary here in Pécs, an increasing number of Hungarian students participate in international study programmes as an integral part of their education, and likewise, an increasing number of international students and researchers come to the University of Pécs to study and conduct research every year. Therefore, the University continuously works on expanding and improving its co-operation with other universities and international research institutions and is already part of a large network at different levels.
