The students, administrative staff and teachers meet on a regular basis and work together on common projects – building race cars or restarting a Romanian car brand – ARO -, building interesting and fun structures, like a model building made out of spaghetti or a Christmas tree made up of various 3D shapes and also joining forces to compete in international math and engineering challenges, coming back home each year with gold, bronze and silver medals. This collaboration extends to the campus – there are weekly meetings with the students who live on campus in order to improve their lifestyle and lodgings. FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE TIMIȘOARA Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Timișoara is part of the Banat’s University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine “King Michael I of Romania” from Timișoara. Our faculty history started once, on 1944 December 31, when Royal Decree No. 660 was published in Monitorul Oficial no. 302, setting up the Western University with seven faculties: Law, Letters and Philosophy, Sciences, Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy… [+] and Theology. Because of subjective reasons, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has started its activity only in 1948 in Arad, in a different organizational structure. There it worked until 1957, when also from subjective reasons, goes into liquidation. Agitated and painful changes in orientation of agriculture, which proved to be totally wrong, increased livestock and subsequent livestock and agriculture education. Under these conditions, it was set up that in western Romania a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is necessary. Thus, by the decision of Council of Ministers No. 428 from 23 May 1962 was founded the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, that entering into service from the academic year 1962/1963 inside the Agronomic Institute from Timișoara and it works till now with a single specialization: Veterinary Medicine. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is a full member of: - EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education), - FVE (European Veterinary Federation), - WVA (World Veterinary Association). Also, FVM Timișoara participates to ETCS (European Transferable Credit System) and it is EAEVE evaluated. Now, the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Medicine (EAEVE), in accordance with their Standards and based on the educational requirements of the EC Directive 2005/36, Article 38, established the status of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Timișoara as APPROVED. Euro, which started the development of an ample research of international relevance in the field of textile industry; c) EU project-Marie Curie in the field of biological mass spectrometry which will be the facilitator of collaboration and know-how exchange between AVU and renowned laboratories from Europe and USA. Concerning the international visibility as well as the dissemination of the scientific results in 2010 were published: 26 ISI-indexed articles of a cumulative factor of 61,487, 5 articles indexed in international databases, 95 papers in prestigious ISI-proceedings of international conferences, 60 articles published in B+ CNCSIS category, 20 articles in B CNCSIS category, 75 books representing 16616 pages published at national publishing houses such as the prestigious Romanian Academy Publishing House, of publishing houses recognized by CNCSIS, 8 books (1191 pages) were also published at prominent international publishing houses, and 2 patents/products with intellectual rights were obtained. This way, the university appears now as a powerful institution of high international visibility at an academic and scientific level as well as a reliable partner at the national and international level, an aspect confirmed also by the series of new collaborations and partnerships initiated the last year. In 2010, the international symposium Research and Education in Innovation Era” divided into 8 different scientific sessions was attended by professors and scientists from numerous European countries such as Belgium, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Hungary, and Moldova. The second RSMS Conference, held in 2010 was attended by distinguished scientists in the field of mass spectrometry from 15 European countries and USA. Currently, AVU holds the presidency of the Romanian Society for Mass Spectrometry being involved in many projects in the field of mass spectrometry, through its laboratories and the Research Center in Mass Spectrometry of high international visibility. The Center is represented by 10 scientists. In the last 4 years, the Center won 2 international projects and 4 national grants, published over 30 articles in ISI-cited journals of impact factors between 2 and 6, edited a book Mass Spectrometry in Life Safety at Springer Verlag, Germany, had about 70 contributions (plenary, invited, contributed oral presentations or posters) at international conferences held in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, Croatia, USA, Israel and won 4 international prizes. The research activity of the AVU Technological and Business Incubator is also highly appreciated at the national and international level. Thus, the Incubator is a member of the Board of Romanian Association for Technological Transfer — AroTT, a professional organization of the units specialized in innovation, technological transfer, non-governmental and non-profit. Recently, within the International Exhibition held in Bucharest, the director of UAV - IT Incubator was elected as one of the three regional vice presidents of the AroTT.

It continues a long tradition of local architectural higher education, the foundation of which is closely linked with the rise of modern Romania and the setting of its new institutional structure and culture, during the second half of the 19th century. In Romania, the first form of architectural education was legally established in 1864, based on an Act issued by Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Prince of Moldavia and Walachia, as a part of the “School of Bridges and Roads, Mines and Architecture”. However, due to the lack of funds, it was closed down shortly after. In 1892 the Committee of the Romanian Society of Architects set up a private school of architecture under its authority. The Education Reform in 1897 transformed the private school into the National School of Architecture (financed by the government) as a part of the School of Fine Arts. In 1904 it became an independent institution named the Higher School of Architecture. In 1931 the School was renamed the Academy of Architecture. The first law concerning architectural education, issued in 1932, recognized its university-level preserving yet the title of Academy; the same law regulated the use of the title of architect and the professional practice. In 1938 the Academy of Architecture was integrated into the Polytechnic School in Bucharest, under the name of the Faculty of Architecture. Additionally, a special program dedicated to the study of urbanism functioned between 1943 and 1948. In 1948 the Faculty of Architecture became independent under a new name - the „Institute of Architecture”. After a short period of independence, it was incorporated to the recently created Civil Engineering Institute and renamed Faculty of Architecture. In 1952 the Faculty became independent again, retaking the name of the Institute of Architecture; by a decree issued in 1953, the Institute was named after Ion Mincu. Until 2000 the institution functioned under the title of “Ion Mincu” Institute of Architecture. In 2000, by a decision of the Academic Senate, the name was changed to “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, which is still the current official denomination. This change was closely linked with the broadening of the educational offer after 1990. Thus, two new Faculties were added to the old Faculty of Architecture in the last decades: the Faculty of Urbanism in 1997 and the Faculty of Interior Design in 2003. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, MOBILITY AND GUESTS: IMUAU has bilateral or Erasmus relations with more than 80 schools of architecture in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States, that facilitates the mobility of the students and the teaching and auxiliary staff.
